What is Dramatherapy and how can it help you?
Dramatherapy is a form of psychotherapy that incorporates drama and theatre practices in order to bring about therapeutic outcomes.
Dramatherapists use a variety of verbal and nonverbal methods in their work with clients, and can work with individuals as well as groups. I encourage clients to tell their stories and examine the problems they want to address and to discuss their goals.
One of the advantages of Dramatherapy is that it does not rely on verbal forms of expression. Drama techniques also encourage participants to focus on their feelings and behaviours. A goal of Dramatherapy is to enable the individual to form new skills and to practice them within the Dramatherapy space.
“We must all do theatre – to find out who we are, and to discover who we could become.” Augusto Boal
